Ciara Confessed What She Finds Most Irresistible About Husband Russell Wilson

Singer Ciara has been married to her husband, football player Russell Wilson, since 2016. They have a child together, who they raise alongside Ciara’s son Future. And while appearing in a June 2019 episode of the Facebook Watch show Red Table Talk, the performer opened up about what she thought the most attractive quality of her husband was.

Ever since 2018, Red Table Talk has provided an opportunity for celebrities to share important personal things with the world. The show is hosted by Jada Pinkett Smith, her daughter Willow and her mother Adrienne Banfield-Norris. Multiple famous people have appeared on the show and talked about their lives.

When Ciara was a Red Table Talk guest she had plenty to say about her marriage to Wilson, and how strong the relationship was. However, the journey she had been on in order to find that happy place with him hadn’t always been a pleasant one. And on the show she dished about it all.

Before Ciara was married to Wilson, she was the fiancée of rapper Future. The pair got engaged in 2013, in true celebrity style. Indeed, during the star’s 28th birthday celebrations in New York, she got off her private jet to find Future waiting for her at the airport with a massive ring. Naturally, she said yes.

Not long after the engagement, Ciara discovered she was pregnant. She announced the happy news during an appearance on The View in January 2014. When the baby was born it was a boy, and Ciara named him after his father. Although Future’s real name is actually Nayvadius DeMun Wilburn, the baby was called Future Zahir.

Everything was looking good for Ciara. In an interview with Brides magazine in June 2014, she said she wanted to spend her entire life with Future. The interviewer then asked the singer when she first realized she wanted to marry him. She answered, “Very early on. He came with something that I’d never felt before: The true presence of a man.”

Ciara was very excited about her upcoming wedding. She’d already chosen people to be her bridesmaids, she told Brides magazine. “There will be five or six and two matrons of honor. They’ll all wear the same color, but in different styles to suit their personalities. I want my ladies to look amazing!” she declared.

But in the end, that fabulous wedding would never take place. In August 2014, when baby Future was just three months old, Ciara called the engagement off. According to an anonymous source who spoke to Us Weekly, Future had cheated and it was now “game over.” Another alleged insider claimed, “She’s devastated. Ciara’s focus now is the baby.”

The woman Future had allegedly cheated with was Tyrina Lee, his clothes stylist. Even worse, according to rumors he had done it while Ciara was pregnant with his child. Yet despite all that, the couple attempted to reconcile in September 2014, if only for the sake of their very young son.

At the time, an anonymous person revealed more details about the breakup to website HollywoodLife. They said, “Ciara knows he cheated and she hasn’t truly forgiven him for that. But she doesn’t want to be selfish to her boy and doesn’t really want her boy to grow up without a father. Even though she knows Future is an a**hole, she does think it would be in her boy’s best interest to grow up with him in his life.”

But unsurprisingly, that didn’t work out. By the end of 2014 the relationship was completely over. Indeed, Ciara removed a tattoo she had of Future’s initials and released a song about the whole sorry situation. The track was called “I Bet” and the lyrics included, “I bet you start loving me as soon as I start loving someone else / Somebody better than you.”

In the end, “I Bet” turned out to be a saddening prediction of the future. Because before too long, Ciara did indeed find the “somebody better” for her – Russell Wilson. And Future began slamming the couple on Twitter every chance he got. He even went so far as to write of Ciara, “This b**** got control problems,” so she sued him for libel in February 2016.

Things only got messier from there. In July 2016 Ciara filed new legal documents claiming that Future had made death threats against her then-fiancé Russell. The rapper had posted two football emojis alongside a gun one. She also referenced his song “Juice,” in which he sings, “Tryna f**k my baby mama, dog what’s up with you? You gon’ make me get that heat, I’m pulling up on you.”

Despite those problems, the wedding between the couple took place in July 2016. And the couple decided to hold the ceremony at Peckforton Castle in England. It was a fairly quiet affair with only family and close friends attending. According to a source who spoke to E!News, “Ciara and Russell couldn’t keep their hands off each other.”

Ciara herself spoke about the wedding to People magazine in August 2016. “This is the happiest I have ever been,” she informed the publication. “Our wedding was like a fairy-tale. We loved the countryside. We looked at a venue in the U.S., but we also looked abroad, and England just seemed magical and perfect.”

And just a few months after the wedding, in October 2016, Ciara announced to the world that she was pregnant. The deeply religious singer wrote on her Instagram page for her birthday, “On this special Birthday I received an abundance of love from friends and family… And I’m excited to Finally share one of the Greatest Gifts of All that God could give.”

By January 2017 Ciara had dropped her lawsuit against Future. In addition, the rapper was granted “reasonable access” to his son. He still seemed to bear somewhat of a grudge, though. In March the musician told Billboard, “I ain’t giving up on myself, so if you give up on me, I ain’t got nothing else to say for you. Because if you give up on something that’s real, it wasn’t real to you.”

Ciara and Russell’s first child together, a little girl called Sienna Princess Wilson, was born in April 2017. Two months later, the NFL star talked about fatherhood to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer and said, “More than anything, when you have your own family and it continues to grow, it’s a special thing.”

In that same interview, Russell talked about his young stepson, Future Jr. The little boy, he said, was “such a good brother.” And when it came to his football career, the new father said he was “playing for the little ones, playing for Ciara, too, and playing for my teammates and trying to do everything that I can to be the best that I possibly can be.”

Things are definitely better for the singer now… Although not so much for Future Sr. In January 2019, he spoke to Breebandz Radio and questioned Russell’s “letting” Ciara ever mention her exes. “He’s not being a man in that position,” the rapper announced. He then added that when they were together, “She couldn’t even bring her exes’ names up.”

Twitter users, however, immediately slammed Future for his attitude. One person wrote, “Manipulative men like him thrive on the projection of the ‘nobody else wants you’ line. But when someone richer, finer, better, kinder comes along, like for Ciara, it’s a reminder of his shortcomings.” And another said simply, “You really have to wonder if Future’s real beef with Ciara is her having the audacity to move on.”

Unsurprisingly, Ciara’s past relationship with Future formed a big part of her Red Table Talk episode. After their breakup, she said, “I’d have moments when I would be in the shower, I’d be crying. I had a few different settings, crying in the bedroom, crying in the shower… Crying because I’m not in the happiest place, and it hurts what I’m going through.”

But Ciara had also felt like leaving Future was the right thing to do. “It would get to a point where I was like, my dad wouldn’t do this to my mom. This can’t be love,” she explained to the hosts. “I’ve always had the same goal of wanting to be loved a certain way, but I was just walking in the wrong direction.”

Ciara found the right direction when she met Russell. As she explained on the show, “When Russ came into our lives, Future was ten months old. It was different, I had never had that feeling in my life. It was calm.” And she added, “He’s consistent. Whenever he would think of me, he would always think about my son and to love me is to love my son, we come together.”

The singer also talked about about her first dates with Russell. She said “When we talked we were connecting in every way… His conversation, it was just different. The way he looked at life, it was different. Also, the energy with my son, it just felt right.” And in fact, the Seahawks star’s relationship with little Future was the thing Ciara found most attractive about him.

Ciara continued, “Russ jumped right in. He was changing diapers, he was so proud of Future’s first steps. When I go to teacher-parent conferences he’s at every one of them with me. And I make sure I schedule [them] so he can be there, because those details matter to him. It’s honestly one of the sexiest things about him to me.”

And as for Wilson himself, he seems to delight in being both a father and stepfather. Speaking to Buzzfeed’s AM to DM in March 2019, he said, “It’s easy to love somebody that’s blood and everything else. But when you can love somebody just like it’s your own child and everything else, that’s what real love is like.”

And a few months later, talking to Hollywood Life, Russell said, “I came in the league and I didn’t have kids at first. I always wanted kids. That’s one thing I always wanted and hoped and prayed for. Now, I have two, with baby Future. Being a step-dad, it’s the greatest blessing in the world.”

Russell absolutely considers Future Jr a member of his family. Sometimes Ciara and the kids come to watch him play, and, “I get to see them after the game – three Seahawks jerseys – and they are all grinning ear to ear. It’s the best blessing in the world. I’m just so grateful for that!” he said

The Pinkett-Smiths also loved Russell’s relationship with Future Jr. During the course of the show, Jada spoke about a social media message she had seen Russell write about his stepson. “He had a post, and I’m getting blinky-eyed already just thinking about it,” she said. “Because I know how challenging… I have a bonus son, who I adore, but it’s challenging.”

That bonus son is Trey, the son of Jada’s husband, Will Smith. His mom is Sheree Zampino, Smith’s first wife. “There is a place,” the host mused out loud. “Trey has a mother. So I had to learn how to have that motherly compassion without trying to… [I] can’t fill that space. Because that space is taken, right?”

Jada went on, “So, Russell, he had a post for Future on his fifth birthday. He said, ‘From the moment we came into each other’s worlds to now… Five years later, you have changed my life and my heart for the better. You are the greatest gift I could ever ask God for.” Adrienne said at that point, “Wow.”

The host then read the rest of the post, which went, “I will always love you, guide you, teach you, care for you. Happy fifth birthday, Papa Russ.” After that she said, “Girl, where are the tissues?” Russell’s words had struck a chord, and the host thought his actions went above and beyond the calling of an average step-parent.

Jada continued, “Because I know, like – especially for a man, can we just be real about that – for a man to take on that responsibility?” Ciara finished her sentence, saying, “Like it’s their own, yeah. It has been a very special journey with my husband and I because we are a blended family.”

Nearer the end of the show, Ciara said she wouldn’t change anything about her past. “If I wouldn’t have gone through those things, I may not have appreciated the man I have in my life. I may not have appreciated when it is really going good and everything’s falling in place,” she explained. “You need those roller coaster rides.”

And when the question of more children for Ciara and Russell came up, she had a clear answer. “I would hope I could have at least two more,” she said. “I love my kids, I love being a mom. It’s like my why in my life. I feel like I’m really doing something even more because of them. The music and stuff is amazing, but gosh, when I look at those babies I say thank you, God. I love being a mom.”

On Red Table Talk Ciara said she wanted her relationship scars to instead become “beauty marks.” Which just happens to be what her last album was called. The singer explained further during an interview with RuPaul later on in June. “I say on this album, ‘All the scars that you get from the obstacles you face in life are actually beauty marks,’” she said.

Ciara went on, “So for me, I got to a place where I was able to reflect on the journey and say, ‘Wow, those moments felt so ugly, and they felt like scars when I was going through them. But they actually are what has made me who I am today, and they’re actually beautiful scars. They’re my beauty marks.’”

And in that same interview, Ciara also called Russell “the love of [her] life” and notably said, “He came into our lives and was ready to love the both of us with everything. He was changing diapers. When our son – I say our son – when Future made his first steps, he was just as excited as I was.

Ciara is doing very well in her life now, as the comments about the Red Table Talk episode attest. “We can all learn from her,” one person wrote beneath the video. “It’s never too late to learn – even if it’s learning how to love and be loved and show your children love. Her words were so powerful and motivational!”
