A lasting and rewarding romantic relationship is always something to be treasured. And arguably this is particularly true for celebrity couples; the demands of constantly being in the public spotlight can undoubtedly bring their own set of additional pressures. Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake seem to have managed well so far, however; they’ve been together for more than a decade. Touchingly, the actress sent her husband a moving message in April 2019, reaffirming her love for him.
Born in March 1982, Biel’s early years were rarely spent in one place as she traveled alongside her parents Jonathan and Kimberly. Despite all that upheaval, though, they finally found a permanent home in Boulder, Colorado. As she grew up, the future Hollywood star began to develop an enduring passion for the performing arts.
Indeed, Biel was fascinated with the theater as a youngster, which eventually led her to pursue a variety of performance opportunities. In a bid to showcase her growing talents, the aspiring actress attempted to make her breakthrough in a number of different ways. As she admitted herself, it became a personal “mission.”
“I had a mission as a kid,” Biel told Harper’s Bazaar magazine back in July 2008. “I don’t know how and I don’t know why, but I was just one of those kids who begged and begged. ‘Take me to this commercial-acting class. Take me to this play. Take me to this audition.’ And my parents just supported it.”
That persistence eventually paid off for Biel upon turning eight, when she joined a Connecticut production of Annie. The youngster took on the role of an understudy on that occasion. Fast-forward three years and Biel’s trajectory had switched track; by now she was starting to dabble in the world of modeling.
However, Biel’s stint as a child model led her back to acting in 1994, after being spotted at a convention during that period. As a result of that, the future star bagged a place at an acting school located in Los Angeles, California. Later that year, she made her on-screen debut in a short film.
Indeed, Biel was cast in the lead role of It’s A Digital World, sporting blue make-up all over her arms and face. She would have to wait another two years, though, before finally making her breakthrough in the industry. At that time, the aspiring actress earned a spot on a brand-new television show.
Biel joined the cast of 7th Heaven, a family drama starring the likes of Catherine Hicks and Stephen Collins. Taking on the role of Mary Camden, she went on to feature in over 130 episodes of the program, before leaving in 2006. During that ten-year stint, the young actress also started to take on some film work as well.
In 1997, Biel made her big screen debut in the Oscar-nominated drama Ulee’s Gold, joining the likes of Patricia Richardson and Peter Fonda. The rising star then followed that up with an appearance in I’ll Be Home For Christmas some 12 months later. However, it would be another three years before her next movie role.
At that point, Biel scored one of the leading roles in the 2001 romantic comedy Summer Catch, starring alongside Freddie Prinze Jr.. Unfortunately for her, though, the film flopped at the domestic box-office following some poor reviews. But despite that disappointment, she continued to establish herself on the big screen.
In 2002, Biel was cast in a supporting part in The Rules Of Attraction, which also featured stars such as Kate Bosworth and James Van Der Beek. The following year, she then took on the lead role in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, a remake of the classic horror film. The latter was a big hit, earning over $100 million at the box-office.
From there, Biel made a brief appearance in the animated television show Johnny Bravo in 2004, before returning to the big screen later that year. The actress was cast in the action thriller Cellular at that point, featuring alongside the likes of Chris Evans and Jason Statham. After that, she bagged one of her most recognizable roles.
Indeed, Biel joined the cast of Blade: Trinity, the third film in the popular comic-book franchise. Taking on the character of Abigail Whistler, she played a pivotal role in the movie with Wesley Snipes and Ryan Reynolds. But while it wasn’t well received by critics at the time, the sequel eventually made close to $130 million at the worldwide box-office.
Biel then enjoyed another notable year in 2005, starting with the sci-fi action movie Stealth. The Hollywood star was cast in one of the leading roles alongside Jamie Foxx and Josh Lucas, before her next project a few months later. At that point, she scored a supporting part in Cameron Crowe’s Elizabethtown.
Off the back of that, Biel earned a significant role in 2006’s The Illusionist, joining the likes of Edward Norton and Paul Giamatti. In addition to that, she was also cast in Home Of The Brave that year, a war drama featuring stars such as Samuel L. Jackson and 50 Cent. Furthermore, the actress’s life changed forever in 2007.
Biel was cast in the action movie Next during that period, which also starred Nicolas Cage and Julianne Moore. From there, she then scored a role in the comedy I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry. Away from acting, though, the Hollywood star began to form a romantic relationship with Justin Timberlake at that time.
Born in January 1981, Timberlake grew up in Shelby Forest, Tennessee, alongside his parents. During his younger years, the future superstar performed as part of the choir at his local church, but his passion for music started at home. Indeed, several relatives imparted their wisdom to the youngster over that period.
Timberlake received plenty of advice from the likes of his granddad and uncle, who both had experience as musicians. His grandfather had even once played with Elvis Presley! In addition to that, his dad also introduced him to tunes from established rock acts, including Queen and The Eagles. Off the back of that, the Tennessee native was determined to break into the industry.
In 1993, Timberlake joined the cast of The All-New Mickey Mouse Club, which featured future stars such as Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears. During his stint on the show, he met JC Chasez, another aspiring musician. Some two years later, both their lives changed forever when they made their breakthrough.
Alongside Joey Fatone, Chris Kirkpatrick, Lance Bass, and Chasez, Timberlake rounded out a new boy-band named NSYNC in 1995. Around two years after their formation, the group released their first album in Europe. Their eponymous record was a smash hit in various countries, enjoying big success in Germany, Hungary and Austria.
The album was eventually released in America in 1998, reaching number two in the charts a few months later. From there, Timberlake went on to establish himself as one of the hottest young stars in the music industry, as NSYNC continued to grow in popularity. However, everything changed in 2002.
NSYNC broke up that year, with Timberlake looking to branch out as a solo performer. During an interview with magazine The Hollywood Reporter in February 2017, the singer lifted the lid on those final few days in the band. According to him, the time was right to pursue a career of his own.
“It started as a fun snowball fight that was becoming an avalanche,” Timberlake recalled to the magazine. “And, also, I was growing out of it. I felt like I cared more about the music than some of the other people in the group. And I felt like I had other music I wanted to make and that I needed to follow my heart.”
In late 2002, Timberlake’s first solo album, titled “Justified”, was released. The record was a major success, further cementing his position as one of the most popular artists in the industry at that point. It also picked up a number of nominations at the Grammys, winning the Best Pop Vocal Album gong.
Following the release of Timberlake’s sophomore album in 2006, titled “FutureSex/LoveSounds”, the superstar then decided to revisit an earlier foray into acting. Having appeared in a couple of films previously, he featured in no fewer than three movies that year. Off the back of that, he was subsequently cast in 2007’s Shrek the Third.
While Timberlake was looking to replicate his musical success on the big screen, he formed a relationship with Biel in 2007. They would go on to date on and off for the next five years, leading to a life-changing moment in October 2012. Indeed, the pair tied the knot at that point, with the wedding taking place in Italy.
A short time after the wedding, Timberlake and Biel released a brief message about the event via People magazine. “It’s great to be married, the ceremony was beautiful and it was so special to be surrounded by our family and friends,” the couple said. And in 2015, their lives took another exciting turn.
Biel and Timberlake became parents for the first time in April 2015, celebrating the arrival of a baby boy they named Silas. Yet it seems parenthood did little to diminish Timberlake’s work ethic, and the Tennessee native released his fifth album,“Man Of The Woods”, in early 2018. Justin kicked off the subsequent tour that March, spending over a year on the road.
After 13 months of performances the “Man Of The Woods” tour finally came to an end in April 2019, concluding in Uncasville, Connecticut. As Timberlake looked to wrap things up, Biel released a heartwarming message about her husband on Instagram. In the video, the actress hails his efforts across the previous year or so.
“Hey Tennessee kid,” Biel says, referring to Timberlake. “I’m being quiet because you’re in the next room. It’s your last show, the last “Man Of The Woods” show tonight. And I would say that I’m so proud of you, but I feel like that’s the understatement of the century.”
Biel’s kind words don’t end there, though. “I just am in absolute awe of you every night, to see you up there in your glory, doing what you were put on this earth to do,” she continues. “You inspire me, you inspire Silas, everyone around you, all your fans, all your friends and family to work as hard and with so much passion as you do.”
At that point, Biel talks about the end of Timberlake’s latest tour, touching upon the future. “You are truly a sight to behold,” the Hollywood star says. “I’m so happy that you’re going to get some time off, so happy for you and for us. And I’m also so sad not to be able to see you up [on stage] again, for a while.”
“You make my heart burst with joy and love when I see you doing your thing, baby,” Biel adds at the end of the video. “I’m your number one fan. I love you.” Her heartfelt words certainly resonated with online users, as the post generated a big response on the social media website.
Indeed, Biel’s video earned close to 500,000 likes on Instagram, alongside over 9,000 comments, most of which were incredibly positive. However, there were a couple of messages that stood out above the rest. “Oh my heart Jessica Biel,” wrote one online user in the comments section.
“Justin Timberlake, you are one lucky man,” the user continued. “You are both so lucky and blessed to have one another. However, your son Silas is truly the luckiest to have you both as parents. You two are a true example of a loving, happy and healthy marriage and relationship. Thank you for sharing this with us.”
Those words were echoed by another social media user in the comments, who also hailed Timberlake and Biel’s close relationship. “What an amazing gift of love you both resonate between you,” they wrote on Instagram. “Thank you, Jessica, for sharing this as it gives encouragement that true love does exist.”
“It’s not about ownership of one another, but of encouragement, joy, friendship, kinship and true immeasurable love,” the user added. “Stay true and good to one another.” In amongst all the other heartwarming comments, though, Timberlake himself wrote out a response to his wife’s social media message.
“I mean…I’m not crying,” Timberlake wrote on Instagram. “You’re CRYING! I can’t with this message. I love you so much.” While the tour ended on the night of Biel’s video, both she and her husband still have some projects in the pipeline over the next few months.
Timberlake is set to reprise his role as Branch in 2020’s Trolls World Tour, a sequel to the 2016 smash-hit Trolls. He produced the original film’s soundtrack as well, earning an Oscar nomination for “Can’t Stop The Feeling!” in 2017. The popular song also won a Grammy Award that year.
As for Biel, she’s set to appear in a new television show in the near future, titled Limetown. The Hollywood star bagged the lead role, joining the likes of Sherri Saum and Omar Elba in the cast. This comes off the back of her previous TV work in 2018, having featured in programs such as Pete The Cat and BoJack Horseman.
