In 2011, 16-year-old Lauren Alaina found fame as a finalist on American Idol. However, her success did nothing for her confidence, and for years after she struggled with her body image. Now she faces rigorous training schedules on Dancing With The Stars. And the singer has revealed the incredible effect the regime has made on her body.
When Alaina auditioned in Nashville, Tennessee for season 10 of American Idol in 2011, judges were floored. In fact, Aerosmith vocalist Steven Tyler declared, “we found the one,” when he heard her sing – and he wasn’t far wrong. The Rossville, Georgia teenager won the hearts of viewers with her country style, finishing the competition second only to the winner, Scotty McCreery.
In the years following, Alaina enjoyed some success with her country music career. However, confidence eluded her and she battled bulimia throughout her teenage years. She eventually won the fight, but the consequent weight gain lead to her embarking on a health regime that shed 27 pounds in 2017. However, the singer’s stint on season 28 of Dancing With The Stars has dramatically impacted her body.
Dancing With The Stars has proved challenging for Alaina. Naturally, the months of dance training were tough, but an additional hurdle came from wearing some revealing outfits. Additionally, the singer faced a highly emotional performance in tribute to her late step-father on the one-year anniversary of his passing. However, each test turned to triumph – with one particular standout.
In October 2019, Alaina revealed the impact Dancing With Stars had on her body. She told reporters assembled outside the show’s studio in L.A., “I’ve lost like 25 pounds since July!” The 25-year-old country singer was, then, six weeks into performing in the competition with dance partner Gleb Savchenko who joked, “You’re welcome.” Alaina added, “None of my clothes fit.”
