4 Occasions When Keanu Reeves Inspired Fans With His Wise Words

Whether he’s acting in hot action flicks, steamy romances or laid-back comedies, Keanu Reeves is one of Hollywood’s most bankable stars. So he gives a lot of interviews, but they aren’t the typical movie star pitch for the latest thing that he’s been in. No, Reeves likes to share a few words of wisdom. Here are some of the deep thoughts the quirky actor has dropped on us.

4. Truth

When newspaper the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette caught up with Reeves in Toronto in 2001, it wanted to know whether the Canadian actor felt that he had a void that he needed to fill. Reeves answered, “I certainly haven’t formalized that feeling, if there is. I know I want to have truthful acting. So maybe that’s something that I’m searching for. Maybe that can turn into a truthful life.”

3. Energy

In Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure, Reeves starred as a stoner. And occasionally his deep thoughts encourage people to think that he wasn’t acting. For instance, press agency AP reported him saying, “Energy can’t be created or destroyed, and energy flows. It must be in a direction, with some kind of internal, emotive, spiritual direction. It must have some effect somewhere.”

2. Wit

Reeves doesn’t just dish out the wisdom, he also deals in wit, as website Buzzfeed found out in May 2019 when it quizzed him with readers’ questions. It asked the actor how he stayed down to earth. Reeves had the perfect answer, responding, “Well, I mean, gravity.” Perhaps that’s why he suggested, when replying to another question, that he and his character John Wick shared “a kind of dry sense of humor.”

1. Afterlife

But Reeves’ specialty is the profound, as he demonstrated when Stephen Colbert asked him a difficult question on his TV chat show in May 2019. Colbert said, “So what do you think happens when we die, Keanu Reeves?” The actor paused and heaved a sigh, then said, “I know that the ones who love us will miss us.”
