When This Girl With Dwarfism Finally Met Belle, The Way The Princess Behaved Brought Her To Tears

A trip to Disney World is surely among the most exciting prospects for any young child. But it meant even more to one little girl from the U.S. with a lifelong medical condition. And when it was finally time for her to meet her Disney princess idol, few could have expected it all to get quite so emotional.

Daisy Perez is a seven-year-old girl from Dallas, Texas, with a truly amazing story. So far in her short life Perez has faced plenty of struggles because of her ill health. She was born with a condition called achondroplasia, a form of dwarfism.

The condition has been tough for little Perez. Not only has her body not developed in the same way as those of other kids her own age, but her type of dwarfism has meant that she’s needed to undergo numerous surgeries on different parts of her body.

Perez has gone through operations on her head, neck, lower limbs and back, according to a Daily Mirror article from April 2017. But throughout it all, she has impressed her nurses at the Children’s Hospital in Dallas. So, one of them decided to do something awesome for the little girl.

Having seen first-hand that she was having a difficult time with her health, the nurse wanted to make sure that Perez got to have a little fun as well. And with that in mind, those concerned knew exactly whom to get in touch with.

So, the nurse contacted the Make-A-Wish Foundation, a famous charity that focuses on giving sick children amazing experiences. Perez was subsequently nominated to be in with a chance of being granted a “wish,” as the charity describes it. Then, at the end of 2016, she heard that she had been selected.

Once Perez found out that she was going to be granted a wish, it was clear that there was one thing that she was desperate to do. Yes, given her love for all things Disney, it was no surprise that she wanted to visit Walt Disney World in Florida.

In fact, there was one other thing she might have liked to do, too, and that was to meet Louis Tomlinson from One Direction. But Perez decided against that option for the most adorable reason. She reckoned a trip to Disney World would be better because she could share the experience with her brother and sister as well.

So Perez stuck to her decision and chose to take a trip to Disney World for her once-in-a-lifetime treat. What’s more, aside from the excitement of all the rides and cotton candy, Perez had another thing that she really wanted to do while she was there.

Her favorite Disney character is Belle from Beauty and the Beast, and she was beyond excited at the prospect of meeting her idol. So, off Perez went to Disney World in Orlando, Florida, with her mom, aunt and two siblings in tow.

The incredible outing also included visits to Universal Studios, SeaWorld and Legoland. Plus, Perez even got to try skydiving at an indoor simulator called iFly. But the main event was always going to be the trip to Disney World and her meeting with Belle.

When the Perez family entered the theme park, Perez was even dressed up as her favorite Disney princess. So in her gorgeous yellow ball gown, the excited youngster strolled around Disney World with her nearest and dearest before it was time to meet her idol.

Then the seven-year-old finally got her wish when Belle appeared and crouched down to talk to her. Adorable photos of Perez meeting Belle for the first time were shared on her aunt’s Twitter page, and it is easy to tell just how much the meeting meant to the little girl from Dallas.

But if that weren’t enough, the experience then got even better. Perez’s mom told Belle that she was “the main reason Daisy wanted to go to Disney World as her wish.” And upon hearing that, Belle had an unexpected offer to make to her number one fan.

Yes, after checking that the Perez family didn’t have any plans that day, Belle asked little Perez a question: “What if I take you on a tour of France?” It was at that moment that Perez burst into tears. It seems that she was simply overwhelmed at the prospect of getting to spend more time with her favorite Disney princess.

After fulfilling a few other commitments, then, Belle took Perez’s hand, and the two of them went on a stroll around the area of the park representing “France.” This really put the cherry on top of what was already a fantastic day for the Disney fan. “It was very special and sweet,” Perez’s aunt told HuffPost in April 2017.

Photographs of the encounter went totally viral, too, attracting more than 41,000 retweets and thousands of comments from people who saw the story. “This is absolutely wonderful. I’m happy Daisy got to experience the magic,” wrote one Twitter user.

Meanwhile, the day after meeting Belle at Disney World, Perez woke up and told her family, “I want to live here forever.” It’s a touching statement that confirms Make-A-Wish did an outstanding job in making Perez’s dreams of meeting Belle become reality.

So although the family’s trip had to come to an end eventually, that day at Disney World will be a special memory. And hopefully it will be one that the little girl will be able to treasure forever. With that in mind, Perez’s whole family expressed their heartfelt thanks to the charity for making it all happen.

Then, to put the icing on the cake, a matter of months later Perez’s second wish came true. Yes, she met Louis Tomlinson from One Direction in the flesh. “I literally could not have asked for anything better,” Perez’s aunt wrote on Instagram, accompanying a photo of her niece with her arm around the pop star.
