When Mary Johnson wanted a radical change in her look, she knew exactly where to go. The Fargo, North Dakota, resident headed to the salon of Christopher Hopkins in Minneapolis, Minnesota. With piercing green eyes and a friendly face, Johnson was already an attractive older woman. However, her appointment with “The Makeover Guy,” would have jaw-dropping results.
Johnson had a good reason for a change. In a video uploaded by The Makeover Guy’s channel in 2017, she said she needed it, “to spark some incentive – I’m in a weight-loss challenge right now with a friend of mine, and I’ll see him probably next year.” In addition, she claimed that she needed to look serious for work – and no blue rinses. That wouldn’t do for a woman who had sat in the state legislature as a Republican representative since 2014.
Hopkins is hardly a blue-rinse type of guy, although he specializes in mature women. Many videos of his work at the ReVamp salon have been posted online, and Johnson had been impressed by what she’d seen. While she admitted to being anxious before he got to work, Johnson said, “I’m not sure of the outcome. But, after looking at all those videos, they do such a wonderful job here. I can’t imagine anything going wrong.”
When The Makeover Guy had finished, Johnson had been transformed. Her gray locks had vanished, replaced with a stunning red hairdo. Fair to say that he’d taken years off – one client guessed that Johnson was 42, when in fact she was a couple of decades older. Johnson was amazed at what she saw in the mirror. “It’s incredible. It’s like a different person,” she enthused.
One person who certainly agreed with that verdict was husband, John. Bowled over by her new look, his first reaction was simply, “Oh wow.” When he’d gotten his breath back, he confirmed, “I wouldn’t have recognized you.” Mussing the new-look hairdo, Makeover Guy Hopkins appraised his own work. “It’s not very Fargo,” he admitted. Johnson, however, was delighted, and shot back, “Which is a good thing.”
