A Lady Refused To Give Up On This Rejected Horse, And Thanks To Their Bond She Can Ride Him Bareback

Alycia Burton had a difficult time during her teens. With not much hope or ambition, she hit rock bottom, but then she found God and started spending more time doing what she loved – riding horses. But she doesn’t even use a saddle.

Burton is a woman from New Zealand with a truly remarkable story. She was born in 1988 and spent her childhood in Doubtless Bay, on the east coast. Ever since she was little, horses have been a big part of her life.

That’s because there was always something about riding horses that made Burton happy. Speaking in a YouTube video in 2013, she describes getting “a buzz” every time that she gets on a horse. “It makes me feel alive, you know?” she says.

But there is one horse in Burton’s life that holds a special place in her heart. To understand the connection, we must go back to the beginning of Burton’s amazing journey. She began life living on a farm with her parents and three brothers.

But when Burton was only 15 years old, she dropped out of high school and got a job in a bank in town. With no qualifications and a questionable lifestyle, things started to go downhill for the teenager. She wasn’t a happy person at all.

Burton recalled drinking a lot during those years, and by the age of 22 she had hit a real low point. “I was exhausted, I was broke, I had absolutely nothing,” she said. But then, all of a sudden, Burton heard something that startled her.

As Burton was driving along the motorway, she heard God’s voice telling her to change her life’s direction. She heard Him say, “If you don’t turn your life around, and give up everything you’ve got and turn to me, you’re gonna go to Hell.”

The voice terrified Burton, but she decided to listen. The very next day she broke up with her boyfriend at the time, packed up all her belongings and went to City Impact Church. Burton vowed never to go back to her previous tendencies, and she never looked back.

At that point in her life, Burton had only $100 to her name, but she was on the road to success. She moved into a garage, where she lived for a couple of years, and she spent her days rehabilitating horses that were considered to be dangerous.

Not only did Burton care for the horses, but she also gave lessons for some extra cash. Soon she began traveling all around the country to help train horses with various behavior issues. But she wasn’t stopping there.

These days, Burton works from a huge 20-acre site in Karaka, Auckland, where she takes in all sorts of troubled horses that other people have given up on. She retrains them and eventually develops them into healthy and strong horses.

But there’s something about Burton’s style of riding the horses that caught people’s attention. That’s because she doesn’t always ride them with a saddle – in fact, sometimes she jumps on without any equipment at all, bareback style.

And there’s one horse in particular that Burton always enjoys riding bareback. His name is Banjo, and the two of them have a special bond that is incredible to see. When Burton rides Banjo, they seem to understand each other without the need for reins.

Burton’s most impressive trick is being able to ride Banjo around a paddock with some pretty challenging jumps and clear them all safely. In fact, she and Banjo work so well together that jaw-dropping photographs of them completing jumps went viral.

In the photos, Burton and Banjo can be seen soaring over some massive jumps. But the most impressive part is that there are no saddles or stirrups in sight. This style of horse riding is called “free riding,” and it is supposedly pretty dangerous.

It’s no surprise that Burton became internet famous for her incredible horse riding skills. And people were so fascinated by her bond with Banjo that there was plenty of demand for Burton to star in a DVD that would teach others how to free ride.

Then, in 2013, it happened. Burton released her first DVD, filled with stunning footage of her and Banjo free riding across the stunning beaches and fields of New Zealand. The trailer alone garnered more than 1.5 million views on YouTube.

Considering the rough ride that Burton had during her teens, it’s impressive to see how much she’s turned her life around. Not only that, but she’s managed to inspire a whole generation of people interested in free riding by simply doing what she’s always been passionate about.

Learning from what she went through, Burton says on YouTube that she wants to reach out to others who might feel as though they have no ambition in life and help them find their way. “If you want to do it, who cares what people think, just do it,” she encouraged.

There’s no doubt that plenty of people could draw on Burton’s life story for inspiration. After all, her message is one of hope and positivity. “It doesn’t matter what background you come from, it doesn’t matter if you have money. There’s always a way to go and do it,” the internet sensation says.
