Engelson was born in Great Neck, New York, in 1976. After attending the University of Southern California where he majored in journalism, he became an assistant in Hollywood. In 2001 Engelson started the production company Underground, and he has since earned producer credits on movies including Remember Me, starring Robert Pattinson, and romcom License To Wed.
Markle and Engelson began dating soon after they met, before eventually becoming engaged in 2010. They made it official a year later in Ochos Rios, Jamaica. In attendance were over 100 guests, who spent four days celebrating the nuptials at the Jamaica Inn. However, the marriage, it seems, wasn’t destined to last.
Just a few months earlier, you see, Markle had landed the part of Rachel Zane on television show Suits. Her character was one of the legal drama’s central female roles. And the star was required, as a result, to spend nine months a year living in Toronto, Canada, where the series’ filming took place.
